Ayurveda v/s Allopathy: The Better Option For Curing Hair Loss

Allopathy or Ayurveda, in which one should you put your faith? Choosing between two systems of healing can leave you in a dilemma, as both differ in their approach. Ayurveda is known to eradicate the root cause of problems and permanently relieve you from your ailments. On the other hand, Allopathy targets your entire body and fights toxins, which could return over time.

Ayurveda: A natural remedy for hair loss

According to Ayurveda, excessive hair loss occurs due to the imbalance of doshas, primarily pitta, which controls your digestion and metabolism. Reasons such as stress, chemical-laden hair products and excessive intake of fried, spicy and oily foods can aggravate pitta. The good news, however, is that you can tackle that fundamental cause of hair fall through Ayurveda, which offers treatments such as herbal medicine and oil massage. Apart from being healthy and safe, Ayurveda is cost-effective and takes a long-term approach. Here are some natural remedies to strengthen your hair and reduce hair loss.

Apply neem paste on your hair

Neem contains anti-inflammatory, antifungal and antibacterial properties, making it useful for preventing hair loss. Regularly applying a neem hair mask can strengthen hair roots and improve blood circulation, which further stimulates hair growth. To make a neem hair mask, grind neem leaves and make a paste by adding warm water. Apply it on your scalp and wash it off after 30 minutes. Do this thrice a week for desired results.

Shampoo your hair with shikakai

Shikakai is rich in antioxidants, which helps improve the health of your scalp and prevents hair loss. It deeply cleanses your hair without stealing its natural oils and makes hair shiny and healthy. To prepare shikakai shampoo, mix shikakai powder and warm water into a solution. Massage your hair with the solution and wash it off after 5 minutes. Use it regularly for longer and healthier hair.

Massage your hair with amla oil

Amla oil is rich in vitamins and minerals, which strengthen hair follicles and provide a protective layer to each strand. Applying this ayurvedic oil can eliminate scalp woes such as dandruff, premature greying and promote hair growth. Regularly oiling your hair with amla oil will have a calming effect and will help in reducing your stress levels. Massage your hair with amla oil till it is completely absorbed.

Also known as the ‘King of all herbs’, Bhringraj promotes hair growth and counters balding. It can also prevent premature greying and has a calming effect when applied on the scalp. You can either use a shampoo that contains Bhringraj or prepare a paste by blending Bhringraj with water. Apply the paste on your scalp and leave it for 20 minutes before washing it off. Repeat this every time you wash your hair for favourable results.

Ashwagandha, a herb used in Ayurvedic medicines, controls cortisol level - the hormone that causes hair fall. It boosts antioxidant activity, improves scalp circulation and cures dandruff. These are just a few of many natural ingredients that can revitalize hair and make it healthier and stronger. More importantly, Ayurvedic products often use these herbs and plants, which are safe and free of side-effects. This makes Ayurveda a more suitable treatment option compared to Allopathy.
